A natural product

1. SOLID WOOD PROPERTIES

Solid wood is a natural material that is characterized by color differences and structural features resulting from natural growth. Each piece of solid wood furniture is therefore unique and therefore one of a kind. As a "living" material, solid wood changes over time depending on the conditions of the environment. For example, fine cracks appearing in the wood due to fluctuating room temperatures and humidity or seasons are not uncommon.
Important quality feature of our solid wood furniture is good seasoning (drying) of the wood before processing. This reduces subsequent changes in the wood to a minimum. However, in adverse conditions, even the best quality wood can not prevent the work of the wood.

2. THE RIGHT LOCATION

Direct sunlight or a location directly next to radiators leads to stress on the wood due to fluctuations in temperature and humidity. This can cause small hairline cracks to form in the wood, which usually disappear and close again when the humidity is regulated.
Especially new buildings with high humidity or attics with rather dry climate promote the working of the wood. Over time, some woods will darken or fade somewhat. This process is intensified by strong sunlight.

3. THE OPTIMAL INDOOR CLIMATE

Slight drawing of glue joints, slight drying cracks and bulges on the surface are the consequences of fluctuations in temperature and room climate. Small holes and slight unevenness in the branching are characteristic features of rustic wood grades.
Here, too, changes in the room climate may cause slight differences in the surface height as the wood shrinks. It is therefore advisable to ensure that the air humidity is as uniform as possible at around 45 to 55% and that the room temperature is between 18 and 23°C.

4. SOLID WOOD - A CONSTANT PROCESS OF CHANGE

Solid wood changes over the years, depending on a wide variety of external factors. This ongoing process of change is quite natural and is often considered a characteristic and desirable property for lovers of the material. This does not limit the life and function of solid wood furniture.

Please understand that all natural changes in the wood are not a reason for complaint.

5. RECOMMENDATIONS FOR CARE

You can find detailed information on the ideal care of solid wood in our care instructions, which are included with your MBzwo care set. Basically, the table should be oiled about once a year for optimal protection. To prevent natural changes in the wood due to fluctuations in room temperature and humidity, it is also worth keeping an eye on the optimal room climate:

- Humidity: 45 - 55

- Temperature: 18 - 23° C

In everyday life it is recommended:

- put a room humidifier or a small bowl with water on the heater.

- regularly wipe the table with a damp cloth to compensate for dry air in summer or heating air in winter.
